Why Am I Not Receiving Notifications from My Tack GPS Devices on OurSphere?

If you're not receiving notifications from your Tack GPS devices on the OurSphere app, there could be several reasons. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:


1. Notifications Are Disabled

Ensure that app notifications are enabled for the OurSphere app on your phone.

  • For iOS:
    • Go to Settings > Notifications > OurSphere.
    • Enable Allow Notifications and configure the alert styles (Banner, Sounds, Badges).
  • For Android:
    • Go to Settings > Apps > OurSphere > Notifications.
    • Enable Show Notifications and select your preferred alert type.

2. Device Is Not Sending Location Updates

Your Tack GPS device may not be triggering location updates due to one of the following:

  • Still Interval:
    • Tack GPS devices optimise battery performance by only sending timely updates when a location change is detected. If your device is stationary, it will only update during its set "Still" interval.
  • Tracking Mode:
    • Your tracking mode may not be set for frequent updates. Adjust the mode if needed:
      • Navigate to Devices Tab > My Devices List > Select Device > Modes.
      • Choose a mode that fits your notification requirements.

3. Poor Network Signal

If your Tack GPS device is in an area with poor cellular coverage, it might fail to send updates, which in turn affects notifications.

  • Check the app for a "Weak Signal, Location Estimated" message.
  • Try moving the device to an area with better network coverage.

4. Device Issues

The device may be off or out of battery:

  • Powered Off:
    • If the battery is drained, charge the device and press the power button once to turn it on.
  • Hard Reset:
    • If the device is unresponsive, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to force a shutdown. Once the LED turns off, press the power button again.

5. App-Related Issues

Ensure your OurSphere app is functioning correctly:

  • Update the App:
  • Logout and Login:
    • Log out and log back into your account to refresh app functionality.
  • Reinstall the App:
    • Uninstall and reinstall the OurSphere app to ensure it’s running optimally.

6. System Notifications Are Delayed

Your phone’s notification system might delay alerts due to power-saving settings:

  • For iOS:
    • Disable Low Power Mode if it's turned on.
  • For Android:
    • Exclude the OurSphere app from battery optimisation settings:
      • Settings > Battery > Battery Optimisation > OurSphere > Don’t Optimise.

When All Else Fails

If you’ve tried all the above steps and are still not receiving notifications, contact our support team at support@tackgps.app with the following details:

  • Your account email address.
  • The serial number of the device(s) in question.
  • A description of the issue and steps you’ve taken to resolve it.
